Getting to know Brittany! 

What's your position at MG? What does that mean for you?

I’m the owner and founder at Molly Green. I consider my position to be Creative Director but I wear many hats…I guess most Creative Directors do! To me it means that I have to consider all the in’s and out’s of the business in a really zoomed in way. I need to understand the customer experience from every angle. I need to understand the challenges that my staff face daily and help them solve problems and find solutions on the fly. I’m also our brand buyer but my team helps with it too. We’re always talking about what trends we’re missing and what the needs are in the stores. Basically I’ve lived and breathed MG for almost a decade. I don’t remember what it’s like to not be constantly working towards growing this brand. I love what I do and I can’t believe how lucky I am to have such an awesome team of people to work with every day. Work for me isn’t really like work because it’s doing what I love with people I adore.

How did you get started at Molly Green?

Brandon and I lived in Florida for a while. We had only been married for a few years and decided we wanted to move back closer to family. One day I was sitting on our patio and I called Anna and said “hey do you want to open a store with me” We had no idea what to do first…but hey…we figured it out bite by bite and here we are now with our lil stores! 

What do you like most about your job?

I love how different every day is. I get bored easily…I’m an enneagram 7 Virgo…so…I like to keep things moving. My job provides never-ending opportunities for challenging my own creativity and learning new skills. It’s amazing how much I’ve learned through this business. 

What is your least favorite part?

Ha! Well currently I don’t have a least favorite. I mean I don’t enjoy moving stores…and we’ve done lots of that. We counted a few months ago and we’ve moved and opened and renovated 20 storefronts over the past 9 years. That’s wild because we currently only have 5 stores. I’ve spent more time in Uhauls than I ever thought I would. Retail is all about moving forward.  

Favorite MG memory? 

I don’t know if I have one specific memory but I have a memory that is really great because it happens almost anytime I work with my sister. If you work a long day with her you know. When Anna has had a long day and it’s time to be done but there’s still more work to do she get’s really slap happy. She puts her hair up in a big crazy bun and somehow this bun will always work it’s way to the side of her head. It’s at this point when she will get the giggles and they’re contagious. It’s so fun to laugh at nothing with her. She’s a fun person to be a workaholic with.  

Favorite item you've gotten from MG? 

Hands down my white cowgirl boots. These things go with every outfit. I could wear them every day. 

How would you describe your personal style? 

Basic and classic. I love denim and monochrome looks. I’m not afraid to wear wild prints or patterns and I love to wear comfortable and loose-fitting styles. 

What inspires you?

Being in nature inspires me. I love to be in the sunshine and can’t wait to get done with my computer work every day so I can go play in the garden. Dirt and sunshine refuel my soul.

What is something strange about you?

In my past life, I was a carpenter or a plumber. I can fix a lot of random broken things. This secret talent has come in handy many times over the years in our stores. 

What is something not a lot of people know about you that you wish they did?

I’m a bit of an anxious person, I get nervous every time I go to a party. So If you see me at a party bring me a drink I might need it.  

When you're not at MG what are you doing?

Welp, I really don’t do much besides work and garden. I love to go on walks and I love to jump on my trampoline. I love to redecorate my house.  

Do you have anything you want to promote?

Just MG and all the people who make it happen. 

Favorite thing you've done recently? 

uhhhhhh I dunno, Covid has changed my perspective on so many things but I’m really enjoying my backyard time. I started composting recently! That’s been fun :)

What do you love about Nashville? 

I love that I can find live music and good food on every corner.
