Getting to Know Brandy
What’s your position at MG? What does that mean for you?
I’m the Store Manager at our Cool Springs location and also the Area Manager for our Nashville locations! It means I get to work alongside some awesome boss babes and help balance all the moving parts that come along with it!
How did you get started at MG?
I worked in corporate, big box retail for years! While I loved my job I wanted to be able to connect more. Connect with my team members and my customers on a more intimate and personal level, which is often more challenging to accomplish in big box retail. I found out there was an opportunity to join the Molly Green team and I applied for it. I met with Anna and Brandon to further discuss the possibility of joining the team. Taking this leap was out my comfort zone, but after I met with them, I knew I wanted to take this leap and join the Molly Green family and vision! So I did! Now we’ve all been getting to grow together as individuals, teams, and as a company! It’s so exciting!
What do you like most about your job?
Wow, this is actually a really hard one. I enjoy so much about my job it’s difficult to pick, but definitely the people! When I say this, I mean both our MG crew and our customers! I love getting to work along side a team full of passionate, driven individuals. I get to help grow and develop people, watching them become even more skilled and empowered to be the very best leader and version of themselves! It’s truly a rewarding career. The feeling of believing in someone, pushing them, encouraging them, working with them, and watching them develop into and beyond their own expectations is literally one of the most rewarding, accomplishing feelings! We also have some of the most incredible customers! We truly make friends every day; the kind where people invite you to their parties or ask you for advice on everything from clothes to life. It’s truly an enjoyable experience you can’t get just anywhere!
What is your least favorite part?
Folding shirts. My free hand shirt folding skills are beyond terrible. They always fail to have that clean crisp look.
Favorite MG memory?
Gosh, there’s so many happy or hysterical laugh til you cry memories. I think a lot of my favorites are from our team meetings or parties. There’s so much laughter, silly games like charades, toilet paper wrapping contests, and team building activities. Oh! And you can’t forget our compliment friendship bracelet activity! It’s just always a room full of happiness and laughter, I love it!
Favorite item you’ve gotten from MG?
Oh, that would definitely be the Lacey dress, in all the colors, and my Radford Flares!
How would you describe your personal style?
Casual! I wear a lot of simpler pieces, but I love adding layered necklaces to complete a lot of looks!
What inspires you?
Failure. Weird, right? But if you aren’t failing it’s a sign you aren’t trying hard enough. So I try to embrace failure and take it head on. It’s okay to lose in life, just don’t lose the lesson. Learn and grow through failure. Struggle on and keep grinding. Success is usually closer than you think!
What is something strange about you?
I’m convinced my personal morning pep talk sets the tone to how my day will go.
What is something not a lot of people know about you that you wish they did?
Hmm, I guess a lesser-known thing is I played violin for 12 years. I even played in 2 traveling orchestras growing up.
When you’re not at MG what are you doing?
A random variety of things! I enjoy throwing darts, painting, hiking, trying new craft beers, experiencing live music, reading personal development books, listening to motivational and growth-focused podcasts. I feel like I’m always busy doing something!
Do you have anything you want to promote?
Does promoting happiness count? I mean everyone really should Sprinkle kindness around like confetti!
Haha! But in all seriousness, the For a Day Foundation! It’s a foundation that provides quality life services to children with cancer and other serious conditions by hosting themed parties, like Queen for a Day and Hero for a Day! They have local and national chapters! One of which is held monthly at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital!
