Add to Cart: Laura's Wish List

Hi MG Babes!

It’s Laura. For those of you who don’t know me, I’m the Marketing and Media Director for Molly Green. Prior to working for Molly Green, I worked for years as an assistant to a personal stylist. During that time, I learned a few things that have helped me shop, and I want to share a few of those tips with you along with what’s on my Wishlist from Molly Green.

But first, I want to talk about this new segment call "Add to Cart." Each week we are hoping to bring you a fun shopping list from someone on the MG Team. What our team member is loving, buying, enjoy styling, etc., and maybe a few of our favorite shopping tips!

Anyway, here are a few of my favorite shopping tips, as well as my wish list, and I included a special treat at the bottom if you keep scrolling!

Invest in great basics-

I wear jeans almost every day. So I’m willing to spend a little more on them. One of my favorite formulas to use when shopping is Cost per Wear: the cost of the item divided by project lifetime wear equals cost per wear. For example, our Radford Flares are $78. If I wear them even just once a week for a year that’s about $1.50 a wear for the first year and $0.75 a wear for the second year, and if I have them for years, which I will because they are great, then that’s even less. When it comes to buying things you know you will be wearing all the time, it’s okay to spend a little more. You’ll get more bang for your buck in the long run!

Have a shopping list on your phone-

Shopping for clothes without a shopping list is like going to the grocery store hungry. You ended up buying a lot of things you might not need or get home and feel like you still have nothing to wear because you can’t make an outfit due to holes in your wardrobe. Next time you’re in your closet getting dressed and you think: I really wish I had more white tees, a black tank, etc. add it to a running list in your phone. Then when you go shopping, you will be able to buy what you need and feel confident in your purchases!

Trends are wonderful! But not every trend is for everyone, and that’s okay!-

Whether it’s the color of the year or a new cut of jeans, not every new thing has to be for you. So pick your favorite trends and ignore the rest.

Basics: A foundational element of every outfit. I start with basics and then add three points of interest. Just because an item is a basic doesn't mean it's not fun or interesting. It can and should be both! Basic just means these items really create a great start to an outfit and can mix with almost anything.
